Granite Victory XPLUS

Granite Victory XPLUS Motorcycle Disc Lock (Sold Secure Diamond Rated)

Ordered this to replace another similar style disc lock that I could mount to the bike itself at some stage and make it easier to carry with me, also the benefit of this disc lock over many others is it high safety rating its been given, it has a Diamond Sold Secure motorcycle rating on it, which is one of the best in the industry.

The lock itself comes in two forms, one with the standard reminder cable and this one with the mounted retainer cable to the lock. Now first thought when ordering is was it worth the extra £10 for the built in reminder cable, and for me yes, so I did go for that version (Total price £72).

When it did arrive I did wonder how good this cable system would be and its ok, no longer thinking it was worth it thou as the cord did not fit to my levers, let alone my indicators, so not sure it be something that handy now, specially as only the ring you loop it on is bright, the cable is thin and black and doesn’t really help make it stand out. I will be looking at ways to fix this thou.

The lock itself thou, Yep its a real sold lump of metal, with a few rotating parts that make it really hard to get an angle grinder to cut it as they will spin making it tricky to get good contact with one, this is why I went for this style over the more traditional locks like Oxford Big Boss one I already own. This lock uses a 14mm harden pin to secure it to the main unit, which is really solid too, can see this lock taking a real beating, in fact be easier to cut the disc on the bike over the lock. Also can be used with a chain which has a loop which is a bonus too.

I watched a few videos on this one and specially one from The Lock Picking Lawyer, and it held up really well on the lock side itself and even had to make a special tool to pick it, so that really going to stop any non professional thief I feel. As well as a second rotating section that combat the lock pick tools too.

It only comes with two keys unlike the Oxford range which has three, but you can order more with the key number on a card they issue. Also comes in a really handy pouch to carry it around and mount under the seat and such, thou its not waterproof so not recommended to use in the outside elements.

9/10 – Overall I am really happy with my purchase, would most certainly recommend too, but just get the standard version with the old style reminder cable, as that is its only let down really. May buy the £18 mounting bracket later on if I can’t make one myself as a good way to keep it mounted on the bike itself.

  1. I have now purchased the bracket holder for this (ABUS 33581 SH 68/69, Black) and have used it to fit my lock to under my topbox so it is with me at all times now, around £20 for the bracket but is a really useful addition to the lock.
